Introduction to Wildlife Rehabilitation Course

CALLING FOR TASMANIAN WILDLIFE CARERS

Tasmania desperately needs more wildlife carers and to help boost those number WIRES, The Tasmanian Department of Primary Industries, Parks, Water and Environment (DPIPWE, Bonorong Wildlife Sancturay, and Wildcare Tasmania have worked closely to develop the Introduction to Wildlife Rehabilitation course.

The course is designed to train new rehabilitators in the essential skills they need to begin caring for fully furred Brushtail possums, Bennetts wallabies and Tasmanian Pademelons.   It will provide the core skills and knowledge to rehabilitate a range of native animals to be successfully released back into the wild.

The course consists of an online theoretical component (with a self-assessment tool) followed by a face-to-face practical session with an experienced wildlife rehabilitator.

Once the training is completed participants will be able to register with the DPIPWE as a Tasmanian wildlife carer.

Dates for upcoming courses:

  • Devonport - 24th October
  • Hobart - 31st October
  • Devonport - 7th November
  • Hobart – 14th November

The course cost is $125 for the online component and a face-to-face workshop.
